Life at the club
Good sailing, good company, and one of the finest spots on the river to spend a summer’s afternoon.
Henley Sailing Club has been on this stretch of the Thames since 1896. Over the years, the sailing has always been the draw — but it’s the social side that tends to keep people coming back.
Our clubhouse sits right on the bank, with a bar, hot showers, a boat store, and lawns that slope down to the river. It’s a genuinely lovely place to be on a summer’s afternoon, whether you’re sailing or just watching.
Throughout the year we run a programme of organised social events — something to look forward to whatever the season. It starts in March with the Toast the Season Supper, a dinner to welcome back members and mark the opening of the sailing season.
Through spring and summer there are BBQs, an open day for families, and our much-loved Cocktail Party and Summer Picnic on the riverside lawn. Autumn brings the Championship Supper and the Silent Disco, and the year ends with our Christmas Party in November. Tickets are needed for most dinners — keep an eye on the What's On page for dates and booking links.
